Newcastle United
Newcastle are likely to agree a new contract with a key player
Newcastle has some outstanding talent on their roster, even though Eddie Howe’s team may not be good enough to consistently contend for domestic crowns and Champions League qualification.
For instance, Anthony Gordon is predicted to be among the Premier League’s top players this year.
Meanwhile, Bruno Guimaraes is still dazzling and is drawing interest from teams like Manchester City and Arsenal.
Alexander Isak is the next person.
The striker, who currently leads the Premier League in goals scored, increased his season total to 19 on
Saturday when he scored a brace against Sheffield United.
Isak is playing quite well right now, which has led to rumors that he might leave the team.
The attacker, who will shortly suffer a pay cut of almost 20% along with his teammates due to their failure to qualify for the Champions League, is apparently very attractive to Arsenal.
Even yet, it’s thought that Howe intends to continue developing around Isak for a very long time.
Soon enough, the prospect of doing that might become far simpler.
This is due to the fact that The Daily Telegraph reports that it is now anticipated that the club and Isak will reach an agreement on a new deal within the next two weeks.
The 24-year-old’s current contract has four years left on it, but a new one is expected to bring him up to par with Guimaraes as the club’s highest earner.
Although it isn’t thought to be enough to deter prospective suitors, it does show that Newcastle means business.
If Isak were to depart, you would need to inquire what the direction the PIF project is taking.
At least, Guimaraes’s contract contains a release clause, so Newcastle won’t be able to do anything if someone uses it.
In regards to Isak, that isn’t believed to be in play, thus Newcastle is well-protected.
Not only would Howe lose a valuable player if he sold him, but it would also send a message to other players that elite players are free to leave Newcastle when better offers come up.
