Newcastle Considering move for Bournemouth defender

Newcastle United need to strengthen their central defence during the summer transfer window, and they are seeking to make some inexpensive recruits.

The Magpies have incurred losses in the previous two fiscal years and are on the verge of exceeding the PSR limit. In that event, they may need to sell some of their players and make strategic acquisitions.

Eddie Howe will want to add a new central midfielder, a young striker, a backup goalkeeper, and a right-sided midfielder. However, long-term injuries to Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles may compel them to seek a new centre-back this summer.

Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo has been heavily connected with a move, and he is one of Newcastle’s top targets this summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Magpies are also “absolutely considering” a summer transfer for Lloyd Kelly.

Romano stated, “For sure, they (Newcastle) would look at free agent opportunities. Remember this update: Kelly from Bournemouth is one of the players Newcastle are seriously investigating for the summer transfer window.

Kelly could be set for Eddie Howe reunion

Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie believes Kelly is more likely to join than Tosin at the moment. Both players are exploring their options, and their representatives have already spoken with various European clubs.

Howe signed Kelly for Bournemouth and will be looking to re-sign the 25-year-old defender. Kelly has made over 115 appearances for the Cherries and can play as a left back.

It makes sense for the Magpies to bring Kelly to St James’ Park this summer, but no decision has been made. Despite their financial troubles, the club has made it clear that they will not trade their key players, including Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes.

Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain have been tracking the Brazilian midfielder, but any interested teams will have to pay the £100 million release clause to get him.
