QPR chase European defender on deadline day as Cardiff City ‘edge’ Sunderland to deal

With Millwall and QPR participating in Carabao Cup play this week, another Championship weekend is quickly approaching.

Lower league rivals Leyton Orient stunned the Lions, while the Hoops triumphed over Luton Town via penalty shootout.

With Millwall on one point and QPR on two, both teams are now searching for their first league victories of the year as they prepare for league play.

Two days following QPR’s league away rematch with Luton Town, the Lions will face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

With Friday night being deadline day as well, we’ve compiled the most recent information and transfer rumors pertaining to both clubs.

Johnston “interest”
According to reports, QPR is considering a move to sign Max Johnston, a right-back from Sturm Graz. In an attempt to avert any danger of relegation this season, Marti Cifuentes may add more players to the Hoops’ roster—they have already brought on 12 this summer.

Reporter Anthony Joseph claims that before the deadline, Johnston has now been designated as a target and that other people are reportedly also interested. The 20-year-old, who was born in Middlesbrough, has played in 20 league games for Sturm Graz since joining the team in 2023.

Cardiff defeats Sunderland
Roko Simic, a forward for Red Bull Salzburg who was strongly linked to a summer transfer to Sunderland, is reportedly nearing a deal with Cardiff City, although the Bluebirds have prevailed in the negotiations.

.. Glen Williams of WalesOnline reported: “Cardiff are getting close to signing Roko Simic from RB Salzburg.” But from what I understand, he will be going on loan to KV Kortrijk. The team believes he can be their main center forward and address the striker problem, but he really needs another season of playing in the top division.

Isaak Davies, the leading man for the Bluebirds, had a great season at Kortrijk last season before joining Erol Bulut’s squad for this season. However, he has since been out for three months due to injury. Kortrijk is Cardiff’s sister club and is also owned by Vincent Tan.

Leeds assert

In anticipation of Friday night’s deadline, Leeds United has been tipped for a late transfer window frenzy. Daniel Farke and the Whites need to replace a few of the important players that left this summer.

Give Me Sport was informed by transfer “insider” Fabrizio Romano that “I think they will be busy for sure.” There will be a lot of movements, and Sallai might happen. However, once more, a number of names are being considered, and Leeds will undoubtedly be among the busiest clubs in the closing hours.
