Board spokesperson Kenny Jamieson, who was first appointed back in December 2021 as a Patrons’ Group representative, has chosen not to stand for re-election for another term.
And Falkirk-born Mark Whittet – with a background in retail and business management – has been elected by the Patrons’ Group to replace Jamieson.
Additionally co-opted onto the board are Stuart Adam and Bob Leishman, who will all be nominated at the Bairns’ next Annual General Meeting.
“Due to the circumstances the club found itself in, the board had to be highly operational and involved in almost every aspect of the day-to-day running of the club when our fan ownership journey began in December 2021,” a club representative stated.
“Since then, by putting in place good business practices and management structures, and by recruiting, resourcing and developing club staff, the business has gradually become more able to run autonomously.
“Over the past year or so, we’ve been considering how best to further evolve the board, to broaden the skill base and better spread the workload, while continuing to make the board progressively less executive.
The unfortunate death of Gordon Wright and the announcement by Kenny Jamieson that he would not seek reelection to the Patrons’ Group board have sped up this discussion more lately.
“All three will be proposed for election at the upcoming AGM, and their appointments are contingent upon shareholder confirmation. At the AGM, Kenny will also step down.
The statement further verified that, following the unexpected death of board member and company secretary Gordon Wright in May, Tom Angus is presently fulfilling the Bairns’ temporary company secretarial responsibilities.
Gordon’s successor as company secretary will be chosen in due course by the newly elected board of directors.
