Watford interim manager Tom Cleverley has claimed that he is looking forward to meeting Kieran McKenna, a youthful manager, when the Hornets face Ipswich Town.

The Tractor Boys will attempt to turn things around when they play the Hornets after their automatic promotion aspirations were dashed with a 1-0 setback to Norwich City over the weekend.

Cleverley has yet to lose a match as Watford’s interim manager, yet he has only won one of his four games in command, drawing the other three.

Still only 34, the former Manchester United player is looking forward to face another youthful boss, McKenna, who is 37.

“I’m excited to challenge myself against a top young coach like Kieran,” Cleverley said on his club’s official website.

Referring to McKenna’s Manchester United experience, where he had the opportunity to rub shoulders with the likes of Michael Carrick and Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer, Cleverley insisted: “He had a background [at Man Utd] with him and Michael Carrick, under Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer.

“He’s done fantastically well to get promoted to the Championship and then really make their mark on the league.”

“They’ve got good rotations in the team, they’ve got exciting players, they’re well organised and it will be a difficult test.”

McKenna’s men won 2-1 the last time they met.
