The Saddlers are reportedly interested in signing a National League defender. As Walsall head coach Mat Sadler prepares for the new season, the Saddlers have been linked with a transfer for Barnet defender Danny Collinge.

The 26-year-old Collinge came up through the Milton Keynes Dons and VfB Stuttgart junior systems before making his professional debut with Stuttgart in 2017, when he appeared for their reserve team.

Danny left Stuttgart in January 2019 and joined Colchester United on an initial two-year contract, but was unable to get into the first team, instead spending time on loan with Maldon & Tiptree and AFC Sudbury. Joining Dover Athletic in the summer of 2021, the centre-back had a solid season, making over 40 appearances before refusing a new contract to remain in the National League with Barnet. Collinge, a former England U16, 17, and 18 international, has made 83 first-team appearances for the Bees and is believed to be on the radar of several clubs looking to strengthen their squads ahead of the 2024/25 season.
