Tragedy as body found in search for missing man after Championship match.

Officers searching for a missing Leeds man discovered a body.

Police have announced that they discovered the body of a man while hunting for Leeds man Allyn Grayson, who went missing after going to see Leeds United play on Saturday (May 4).

Officers discovered the corpse in a wooded area near Hunslet Road and the A61 in Rothwell shortly before midday today (Thursday, May 9).

Formal identification has still to take place, although Mr Grayson’s family has been told of the discovery.

Allyn, 50, of Rothwell, was last seen at the Head of Steam bar on Park Row in the city center at around 5.30pm on Saturday.

He had gone to the pub with a friend after the Leeds United game at Elland Road but abruptly left without explanation.

Police issued an appeal after he was reported missing, stating that it was “completely out of character” for Allyn to go missing in this manner and that they are doing “extensive inquiries” to locate him.
