Three teams interested as Sheffield Wednesday attacker nears Owls exit

Gregory was brought on board by Darren Moore in the summer of 2021, and he was an integral component of the team throughout his two years in League One, scoring 36 goals and providing 36 assists in league matches, as well as a couple of crucial ones in the play-offs.

The 35-year-old scored Wednesday’s first Championship goal on their return to the second division earlier this season, but he fell out of favour under Danny Röhl and, despite being regularly lauded for his attitude and work ethic, made his final appearance for the club in December.

With his contract expiring this summer, The Star believes that, as expected, ‘Greggers’ will leave Hillsborough when it expires at the end of June, and it is understood that three English Football League clubs are already interested in bringing him on board to bolster their attacking ranks for the 2024-25 season.

Where he ends up remains to be seen, and the striker will be eager to weigh all of his options before making a decision on his future move, but he will undoubtedly leave Hillsborough with the prestige of a local guy who played a role in the greatest play-off comeback ever. His name is immortalized in Wednesday mythology for his role in the play-off miracle and assist at Wembley.

Another summer of change is expected at S6, with Gregory one of many players whose contracts expire this summer, and Röhl has stated that he wants to finish things up as soon as possible so that they can begin preparing for the season ahead.
