The 17-year-old Chelsea player received a message from Reece James following his introduction to first team practice yesterday.

Reece James just reminded everyone of the reasons behind his summer appointment as Chelsea’s club captain.

It is understandable that Reece James, who has just recently recovered from his most recent injury issue, would have preferred to stay at Cobham and continue working on his fitness rather than play for England during this international break.

Mauricio Pochettino has been working with a severely reduced roster, as James has numerous first-team players away with their various national teams. It follows that it is not shocking to see a few new faces from the academy called up to supplement the numbers.

This week, Tyrique George, a 17-year-old prospect for the Blues, began training with the first team.

James shared a photo of himself and George working out on his Instagram story this past Wednesday. He included a few wise comments in the message and tagged the 17-year-old child.

“I used to be the little kid that came over and trained with the first team,” James wrote. Champ, keep up the good work. Everything is conceivable.

George’s progress will accelerate greatly as a result of his training with more experienced athletes.

This season, the London-born winger is playing for Chelsea’s Under-21 and Under-18 teams, with the latter group seeing significant success.

Hopefully, he can continue Cobham’s long history of academy success.
