Tuesday’s Bangkok Century Cup in Thailand saw United triumph 4-0. The Red Devils’ first game in their preseason tour of Australia and Asia was this one.

The United manager was questioned about the Liverpool coaches’ assertion that the Reds struggled to counter this man-marking strategy while speaking to the media after the game.

Ten Hag refuted Klopp’s assertion, stating that his side had not intended to participate in this scheme.

The Dutch head coach told manutd.com, “I wouldn’t argue that we play man marking- at a specific point we play man marking.

We want to play aggressive football and press all day long.

When it’s not possible, we must read it as a team and read it lower. Sometimes we can do that high.

But we want to press, and that must be our goal throughout the day.

“I want productivity from every member of the team. The players taking the initiative on and off the ball, in offense and defense, is what matters most.

Klopp didn’t intend to disparage Ten Hag or his system. In fact, the German was very complimentary of United’s setup in his own post-game interview.

Speaking to Blood Red: Liverpool FC on Youtube, Klopp said: “I saw a lot of good performances in moments, but no consistency, sometimes we were in a rush.
