Struggling Swansea City star set for summer switch.

Arsenal’s Charlie Patino, who is presently on loan at Swansea City, could be on his way out in the summer after failing to impress.

According to The Standard, the 20-year-old, who was previously regarded as the next great thing in East London, is no longer in favour after underperforming for the Swans. With a dual Spanish passport, he is thought to be looking for a fresh start in La Liga, given how quickly things have changed in the United Kingdom. Just six months ago, he was connected with Juventus, demonstrating how fast reputations can deteriorate.

The 20-year-old has been at Arsenal since 2015, having joined from Luton Town for £10,000 when he was 11 years old. He progressed through the Emirates ranks and also represented England at various ages. His debut for his employer occurred in the 2021 EFL Cup against Sunderland, where he also scored his first senior goal. He followed that up with an FA Cup match against Forest a few weeks later, but failed to score.

He joined Championship side Blackpool on loan at the start of the 2022/23 season, appearing in 37 senior games and scored three goals. That impressed Swansea City, and he was a regular starter until the FA Cup match against Morecambe. He started and scored in that game, but hasn’t played a full 90 minutes since, starting only once more in the FA Cup.

His current contract expires in a year, and it’s currently considered his chances of breaking into Mikel Arteta’s side are slim, given the talent rising through the ranks behind him. With minimal experience in first-team football in the Championship, the tiny but skillful midfielder is expected to seek a move to the continent, where his physical attributes may not be as limiting.
