The offensive midfielder has put up a number of strong performances to win the title of Blues youth team player of the year.

Furthermore, coach Danny Heath has made clear how committed Faulkner is to making the starting lineup at Roots Hall.

Heath stated, “I believe Mickey loves the club just as much as Beau (MacDonald), who has been here since he was about seven years old, even though Mickey has only been here since last summer.”
“He wants to stay, and the fact that he is sticking around despite a League One club’s offer is a huge compliment to everyone at the club.

“He adores this place, takes pleasure in the youth squad, and is eager to continue working for the first team’s configuration.

With the team, Faulkner has already inked his first professional contract.
But it was during a preseason game against the Shrimpers that he initially drew the attention of the team.
“I’ve been very impressed with Mikey and he’s a player that played against us in pre-season for Barking Abbey’s academy team,” Heath added.
“Our former academy coach Ross Johnson was leading their team, and he stood out throughout the game.

We asked Ross if we could talk to Mikey and his father about joining us for training. They immediately responded “yes,” and if my memory serves me correctly, he moved in the following day, so everything was over after that.
After making an impression during a 45-minute trial run with the Shrimpers, Faulkner was given a contract.
And he kept taking advantage of the opportunities that came his way after that.
