Salah was “prepared” to leave Liverpool before signing a new contract with Chelsea as Boehly had a £60 million deal in place.

Liverpool made Mohamed Salah the highest-paid player in their history, it was claimed that he was “willing to leave to Chelsea.”
Salah’s new three-year contract with the Reds, at nearly £400,000 per week, was made public on Friday, putting an end to rumors about his whereabouts.
And according to The Sun, Premier League opponents Chelsea threatened Jurgen Klopp’s team, forcing them to take defensive action.
According to reports, Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas informed Fenway Sports Group that his client was considering a move back to Stamford Bridge, where he spent a less-than-successful two-year span from 2014 to 2016. The new owner Todd Boehly is reportedly lining up a move for Salah.
Salah’s demands were causing Liverpool to slow their steps, although they were rumored to be open to accepting an offer of £60 million.
However, following Sadio Mane’s transfer to Bayern Munich, they realized that losing another one of their top players, especially to a Premier League opponent, would not have been well received by the supporters.
Speaking on the renewal of his contract, Salah maintained that everyone should be happy:
I feel wonderful, and I’m eager to help the club win titles. Everyone should be delighted today, Salah said, according to the club’s official website.
“I think renewing takes a little while, but now that everything is over, all we have to do is concentrate on what comes next,”
“I feel great and [I am] excited to win trophies with the club. It’s a happy day for everyone,” Salah told the club’s official website.
“It takes a little bit of time, I think, to renew, but now everything is done so we just need to focus on what’s next.
“I think you can see in the last five or six years the team was always going [upwards]. Last season we were close to winning four, but unfortunately in the last week of the season we lost two trophies.
I think we are in a good position to fight for everything. There have also been new signings. We just need to keep up the good work, have a specific objective in mind, stay positive, and try everything one more.
“My message [to the fans] is that the team’s players want to give it everything we’ve got next season in an endeavor to win every trophy,” Salah continued.
If you continue to encourage us and give us a strong push, as is normal, we will continue to win trophies together.
