Angus Crichton has been offered a two-year deal by Rugby Australia following the Wallabies’ World Cup disaster.

Rugby Australia has made a two-year, $1.6 million bid for Roosters star Angus Crichton just days after the Wallabies slumped to their worst ever World Cup performance.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Crichton has been offered a package deal between the board and Perth Super Rugby franchise Western Force for 2024 and 2025.
The Roosters will lose Joseph Suaal to rugby at the end of the 2024 season at $1.6 million a year.

Crichton is under contract with the Roosters until the end of 2024, but the club have given him permission to return to the 15-man game where he rose as a schoolboy.

Crichton’s departure would free up salary cap space for the Tricolors, who are currently in further negotiations with Siua Wong and Terrell May. Angus Crichton in action for the Roosters against the Knights.

Crichton attended Scots College, a prestigious private school in Sydney, where he was a first XV star. He also qualified for the Australian school sides.
He got his first taste of the league in 2014, playing a handful of games for the Roostersand lower grade teams before returning to rugby.

However, in late 2014 he signed a two-year deal with the Rabbitohs for 2015 and made his first grade debut in 2016. He spent three years at Burrow before moving on for the 2019 season.

After Suaaliiand pending misconduct was confirmed, the Roosters considered releasing him from the final year of his contract.

The reports prompted Rugby Australia to announce their desire to lure not only Crichton, but also Roosters coach Trent Robinson.
