Peterborough chairman lauds Mansfield Town owners post-League One promotion.

Darragh MacAnthony believes Mansfield Town’s owners, John and Carolyn Radford, completely deserve to be living the promotion dream.

The Peterborough United chairman congratulated the Stags on their ‘earned promotion’ and commended the Radfords’ perseverance.

“I want to congratulate Mansfield and the Radfords,” he remarked on the most recent episode of his Hard Truth podcast.

“I know about the personal heartbreak they had in the play-offfs at Wembley and missing out last season.

“Football is a harsh game that can hurt you. I’ve always stated that good owners are difficult to find, and it’s wonderful to see owners like them.

“The Radfords deserve huge plaudits for what they’ve accomplished; they’ve had so many near misses.

“They are fully deserving of promotion.”

And MacAthony believes it is an even greater success in a division dominated by high-spending clubs.

“For them to win promotion in a season with the size of the clubs and the finances they have in League Two is a great achievement,” he said.

“People believe the owners are wealthy, but I know what they pay, and it isn’t as much as Wrexham or Stockport.

“A few of games ago, I was worried for them because they had fallen down and MK Dons were in there.

“Well done to Nigel, Carolyn and John, I’m delighted for them.”
