Palace to hold contract talks with £9m player who wanted to leave

Although a clearout is anticipated at Crystal Palace this summer, one player has proven to be irreplaceable and is now eligible for a new deal.

Oliver Glasner has the opportunity to start again at Crystal Palace this summer because he anticipates a busy summer.

With eight first-team players out of contract and several more set to be moved, a roster revamp is in the works.

Some celebrities may even leave during this departure-heavy window; Marc Guehi and Michael Olise are two names that are frequently associated with departures.

Although he expressed a wish to depart earlier this year, one player seems certain to stay.

The guy who appears to be staying at Palace during the summer is Jean-Philippe Mateta, the forward in form.
This is a significant change from rumors in December that stated he was considering leaving in January.
The Frenchman’s plan didn’t pan out this way, and he has since scored four goals in six games under Glasner.

Mateta’s situation is about to become even better, though, as BBC Sport reports that he will likely have contract negotiations with the Eagles prior to the end of the current campaign.
He would probably receive a pay increase on his existing £50,000 weekly salary under a new deal.
This summer, with recent attention from Stuttgart, Betis, and Sevilla, it would also be a turnoff.

There may be a lot of change at Palace this summer, but locking down probably Glasner’s greatest player could be a wise decision.
Mateta’s incredible turnaround at the team suggests that maybe all along he was waiting for the proper manager.
Mateta has already started to be compared to Erling Haaland after just six games, however for the time being they are mainly tongue-in-cheek remarks given his four goals.

This seems to be the best deal for everyone involved as Mateta could become a real leader and figurehead in the Glasner era at Selhurst Park
