Crystal Palace injury update: Oliver Glasner’s side will be missing one of their important players when they face Newcastle United on Wednesday night.

Crystal Palace will be without Jefferson Lerma when they face Newcastle United on Wednesday night. The Eagles will welcome the Magpies to Selhurst Park after a convincing 5-2 win over West Ham on Sunday, which followed a 1-0 victory at Anfield the week before.

However, the Colombian midfielder will almost probably miss Wednesday’s encounter after suffering a hamstring injury late in that game at Anfield. Lerma missed the triumph over the Hammers, and Oliver Glasner revealed that he would be out of action until next month. “We will miss him at least until Manchester United,” Glasner remarked of Lerma. “So for this week where we have three games in six or seven days.”

He added, “It’s his hamstring. It was a little unlucky. It was a sprint against [Mo] Salah, one of 30 he’d completed, and he took a long step before feeling it.

“He asked to be substituted, but we couldn’t do it. It was near the finish of the game. So he replied, ‘OK, you continue the game with us’, but he could feel it afterwards, and we now have the results.”

Glasner has won three, drawn three, and lost three of his side’s nine league matches since taking over for Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park. Newcastle United, meanwhile, has only won once at Selhurst Park in the last decade, and it was in an empty stadium in November 2020.
