Ramy Abbas had long been the target of suspicion among Liverpool fans.

Mohamed Salah might surpass all expectations to thank Liverpool for their contract decision

This continued on Friday when Abbas, better known as nagging Mohamed Salah’s agent, appeared to Twitter to appear to rile up supporters about the apparent deadlock between Liverpool and his client after months of negotiations to extend the Egyptian’s stay on Merseyside.

The latest ‘cryptic’ tweet from Salah’s representative quickly infuriated the crowd, and club icon Jamie Carragher even moved to condemn it.

Salah’s contract was due to expire in July 2023, and since the wage demands and the crucial contract duration were apparently poles apart, there seemed to be only one option left: Salah might leave his job in a year.

That hypothetical series of events, however, was put an end to later on Friday afternoon when it became out that Abbas’ cryptic Tweet was actually a clever ruse by the club to present a captivating conclusion to one of European football’s oldest and most monotonous sagas.

With a weekly salary of £350,000, the 30-year-old will surpass all other players in club history in terms of compensation. a sum that, provided he continue to score goals and succeed at the same rate, could increase to more than £400,000.

The three-year agreement, which will cost close to £60 million in total, is a significant expression of Fenway Sports Group’s ambition. Indeed, the Liverpool owners have managed to pay Salah top bucks while still adhering to the club’s meticulously designed wage structure through Julian Ward. When everything is said and done, the Liverpool manager will undoubtedly tip his cap to his superiors.

  1. Salah is the latest Reds player to receive a contract extension, joining Virgil van Dijk (30) and Jordan Henderson (32). Only a few years ago, this would have gone against the owners’ original plan. However, Gini Wijnaldum and Anfield legend Steven Gerrard are just two instances of players who allegedly felt underpaid and underappreciated by the contracts they were given to sign before leaving as free agents.
