Marcus Rashford discusses the atmosphere and problems in the Manchester United locker room. Erik ten Hag's word of caution

In order to “display what we can do,” Rashford said the United team is feeling “very good” and can’t wait for the new season to begin. The attacker further cautioned that despite the Red Devils’ strong preseason showings, they must keep getting better during the upcoming season under new manager Erik Hag.

Last season, Rashford’s bright career began to stall a little as he struggled to regain his form after shoulder surgery and Ralf Rangnick was reluctant to give the attacker enough playing time. Despite losing to Crystal Palace on the penultimate day, United fought their way to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League and ultimately qualified for the Europa League the next season, mirroring his own disastrous season.

However, United have already displayed encouraging signs under Ten Hag during the preseason, and it appears the upbeat outlook surrounding the club is one shared by the Dutchman’s team. As a result, there is a renewed sense of optimism around Old Trafford at the moment. In particular, Rashford acknowledged that he is in a good place heading into the current season and that his United teammates share his ambition to make up for last season’s mistakes.

Rashford told The National, “I’m in a terrific place psychologically and physically. “I feel incredibly optimistic, and I realize I’m not alone there. The players seem to be working together.

“We want the season to begin so we can demonstrate our abilities. Hopefully, we can have a much better season debut. We have improved since last year, as players.”

In their first four preseason games, the Red Devils are unblemished, winning three, drawing one, and scoring 13 goals in the process. As Ten Hag’s influence on the team is already beginning to show, some of United’s play has been smooth and eye-catching, but Rashford has underlined the Red Devils cannot take their success for granted. The 24-year-old requested that during Ten Hag’s inaugural season as manager, United keep becoming better.

Rashford said, “The true test is to do it when the season begins. We’ve tried to play our best football, and I think that showed most of the time. Even though we lost at Villa, our preseason work paid off, and the journey was uneventful and injury-free.
