Liverpool have now won six consecutive Premier League games after beating Brentford last time out.
Mohamed Salah scored the decisive first-half goal as Liverpool held on to fifth place in the table with a 1-0 win. The Reds are now just a point behind fourth-placed Manchester United but have played two more games.
Jurgen Klopp’s side had to work hard to win against Brentford as Bryan Mbeumo was disallowed a goal in the first half. And although they are unlikely to finish in the top four, Liverpool will do whatever it takes to win the remaining three games and see where that takes them.
Liverpool have just three league games left before the end of the season. However, Manchester United and Newcastle have five games left to play and both will play on Sunday.
After playing three consecutive home games, the majority of Liverpool’s remaining games are now away. Getting results in games like this has perhaps been the team’s biggest problem this season.
Leicester City and Southampton are both fighting for their lives at the bottom of the Premier League. When Liverpool play them they will all be determined to get the three points to keep their top flight status and will have their fans behind them. For Newcastle, they face Arsenal on Sunday in what is far from an easy game as the Gunners still have title ambitions. Next comes an away game against struggling Leeds United, who have a new manager at the helm in Sam Allardyce.
Then came a double header at home to Brighton and Leicester in what look like easy wins for Newcastle on paper. Their season ends with an away game at Chelsea, which has been a lottery for Stamford Bridge Club for a few weeks.

Moving on to Manchester United, and they have a relatively cheap run-in by comparison. Away games against West Ham and Bournemouth are joined by home games against Wolves, Chelsea and Fulham.
Klopp told his press conference that he expects Man United to get the eight points they need to guarantee they finish over Liverpool. Although it seems highly unlikely that the Reds’ bitter rivals will drop enough points, far stranger things have happened in football over the years.
Finishing in the top four remains a tough task for Liverpool, despite their recent resurgence in their last half dozen games. If they can maintain this form for their final games, they might have a chance, but that’s largely out of their hands.
