Liverpool’s £54 million duo under Jürgen Klopp are poised to elevate the club, as Manchester United friendly just revealed

There is only so much that can be inferred from a friendly game, much less one in which Liverpool rotated three outfield lineups for a total of 30 minutes.
While the majority of the Manchester United squad has been in training under their new boss for a fortnight, Jürgen Klopp has only been working with players like Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nez for one or two days.
However, the Liverpool players will be sleeping and recovering, confident that their training sessions are far more significant than anything else, while some people have meltdowns over a frank setback in Thailand.
This added another 30 minutes of practice for those players who have only recently returned to the field, bringing them one hour closer to being prepared for the big game in less than a month.
Liverpool’s performances in friendlies shouldn’t be evaluated until they play RB Leipzig and then Red Bull Salzburg (and even then, only with a healthy pinch of salt), with Manchester City in the Community Shield being the most likely matchup for those looking to speculate on the first starting XI of the upcoming Premier League season.
Given that the majority of the players who will likely play in that had only recently returned, it shouldn’t be a surprise that two of those who have been in training since day one appeared the most fit.
At the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, two players stood out in particular: Harvey Elliott and Luis Daz. The pair intends to take advantage of the upcoming weeks at least as much as anyone else.
Elliott’s injury from the previous season came just before he was about to go off, which was a painful setback for him. Given his confidence in recent interviews, there is a sense that this season might be his. When asked if he planned to score 10 Premier League goals this season, he replied, “15 or 20 would be wonderful.”
Analyzing the preseason games to death won’t yield much, but Elliott, who was acquired from Fulham following a tribunal in 2019 for less than £5m, impressed against Manchester United. His passing was incisive and he appeared prepared to make up for lost time while positioned on the right side of a front three.
Daz’s scenario is a little bit different. The Colombian joined a squad that was playing what seemed like every other day in the middle of the season from Porto for a cost that might top £49 million.
The coaching staff at Liverpool just did not have the time to work with Dáz and explain the nuances of the approach. He was able to perform so well, which is a testament to his talent.
