Liverpool XI vs Leicester: Lineup expected, squad news confirmed and latest Premier League injury
Liverpool will again be without Roberto Firmino for Monday night’s trip to Leicester.
The Brazilian, who will leave the club at the end of the season after eight years at Anfield, has been out with a muscle injury since coming on as a substitute in Liverpool’s 6-1 win over Leeds a month ago.
Although Firmino is close to returning to action, the match against relegation-threatened Leicester comes too soon and attention will likely focus on the last two games of the season.
“I saw Bobby in training yesterday and he looks like [he’s] almost there, but I don’t think he will be there this weekend,” Jurgen Klopp told reporters during the pre-match press conference.
“If I get out of here and he’s in session I’d be surprised. I assume we will start coaching the team with him after the Leicester game.”
Naby Keita and Thiago Alcantara will also be out for the rest of the season, but there are no new injury problems for Klopp.
It was an attacking side that was last eliminated against Brentford, but another midfielder could enter King Power, with Jordan Henderson potentially starting and Luis Diaz pushing for a return to the team, likely leading to Darwin losing Nunez.
Ibrahima Konate continues to beat Joel Matip, while Curtis Jones enjoys a good run in the starting lineup and is ready to keep his place again.
Liverpool XI Prediction: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson; Jones, Diaz, Gakpo, Salah.

From Italy – Liverpool plot move to sign £141million Victor Osimhen to replace fireless Darwin Nunez
Liverpool splashed big on signing Darwin Nunez last year but the Uruguayan has yet to live up to his price tag.
According to the media, the Reds are interested in securing the services of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
According to today’s version of Corriere dello Sport (news photo below), Liverpool are considering signing the centre-forward from Napoli.
The well-known Italian outlet claims that alongside the Merseysiders, Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Newcastle and Bayern are also trying to lure the African.
According to CdS, the new Serie A champions want to keep their superstar striker and will only be allowed to sell him if he receives a club-record offer of €160m (£141m). Chelsea are willing to offer cash plus goalkeeper Kepa and striker Pulisic to meet the asking price, but Osimhen is unwilling to give up Champions League football.
Liverpool need to win their remaining PL games and hope Man Utd and/or Newcastle drop points to earn a place in next season’s elite European tournament.
Nunez scored just 9 goals in 29 Premier League appearances for Klopp. His finishing was a big concern, but it’s clear that he has the quality to do well.
Surely the best option would be to give him one more season as under FSG we cannot expect the club to pay a record £141million to Victor Osimhen. The former Lille striker is currently Italy’s top scorer (23 goals) and would improve any team he joins this summer.
