Liverpool v Fulham: Predictiton, team news, statistic and Lineups

Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool are aiming for their fifth consecutive league victory on Wednesday

Resurgent Liverpool moved up to fifth after Sunday’s thrilling 4-3 home win over Tottenham and they have a strong chance of closing in on Europa League qualification when they meet midfielder Fulham at Anfield.

The Reds have scored a lot of late, taking the lead three times in the first 15 minutes against Spurs.

However, the Merseysiders have shown some weaknesses at the back and Jurgen Klopp will be keen to see a much more disciplined performance against the Cottagers.

Fulham have been in the hunt for European qualification for much of the season but their results have plummeted and they remain in 10th place following Sunday’s 2-1 home loss to Manchester City.

Liverpool v Fulham (Wednesday, 8 p.m.)

Team News

Ibrahima Konaté has struggled to play two games in a week and could make room for Joel Matip at the heart of Liverpool’s defence. Stefan Bajcetic and Roberto Firmino remain unavailable but Diogo Jota could push for a recall after his stoppage-time goal against Tottenham.

As for Fulham, Willian has shrugged off a hamstring injury and is set to return to the squad but Andreas Pereira, Tim Ream and Layvin Kurzawa are all injured and Aleksandar Mitrovic is suspended.

Statistics

Liverpool’s four-game winning streak is their best of the season, although they failed to get a shutout on every occasion.

The Reds have scored at least two goals in each of their last five games and their unbeaten league record at home stretches back nine games until October when they suffered a surprise 2-1 loss at Leeds.

Fulham have lost six of their last eight top-flight games but remain in 10th place and have not been outside the top half since mid-October. The Cottagers haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last nine league games.

forecast

Liverpool have failed to live up to their lofty expectations this season but remain an extremely tough proposition at home and are set to beat Fulham in a fairly close encounter.

Reds fans have witnessed thrills and spills in recent weeks and were put to the test in Sunday’s seven-goal win over Spurs.

Given that Liverpool’s Premier League goal tally (42) is already 16 more than last season, it would be fair to assume they have some defensive issues to deal with.

However, while they struggled to cope with Spurs duo Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, they should fare much better against a Fulham side weakened by the absence of Pereira and Mitrovic. The houses have lost four of their last five outdoor games, including the notorious 3-1 defeat in Manchester United, and will probably overcome Anfield, where they were put in the shade of three of their last four visits .
