Liverpool transfer news: Roberto Firmino swap claim prompts ‘offer made’ for Frenkie de Jong

Liverpool remain heavily tied to a midfielder’s move before the end of the month following the recent injury crisis, although developments involving a number of players have seen the tide again.
The Reds have been strongly linked to Leandro Paredes’ transfer from Paris Saint-Germain as a potential midfield asset, although reports suggest their hopes of signing him may now fade. However, it has been mentioned elsewhere that an offer of £ 60 million has been made for underdog Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong
£ 60 million “bid made” for De Jong
The Dutch international made headlines this summer after months of negotiations between Barcelona and Manchester United over a potential sale and despite the two clubs apparently agreeing on a quota, the 25-year-old refused to move to Old Trafford.
United have now put an end to the search for De Jong, but they could very well have paved the way for Northwest rivals to land a deadly blow and take the maverick midfield, with Spanish outlet Futbol Total confirming that an offer of £ 53 million plus £ 7 million of variables were made by the Reds. The report claims De Jong could allay concerns of Jurgen Klopp wanting to add a midfielder to his ranks before the window closes, while Liverpool’s ability to offer Champions League football and a realistic shot at the silverware makes it an attractive prospect.
Paredes ‘ready for Juventus’
PSG midfielder Leandro Paredes is a name that has recently emerged in connection with a move to Liverpool, although any chance of signing the Argentine is already as good as it was after news he agreed a deal personal with Juventus.
This emerges from a report by Gianluca di Marzio, who claims Paredes is set to join the Serie A giants as he seeks to play regular first-team football, with the old lady apparently dying so that he please sign a contract. It proved a quick turn of events following reports earlier this week claiming that Liverpool had shown interest but they could be beaten again by the signing of one of their reported targets.
Firmino “swap Agreement“
In a separate story about Liverpool’s alleged interest in signing Paredes from PSG, it was also reported that the Reds have offered Roberto Firmino a ‘swap deal’ to complete the transfer which could show there is genuine interest from Merseyside teams. .
Italian outlet CMW have claimed that Liverpool offered PSG a direct transfer involving the Brazilian striker, which is why Juventus stepped up and secured a quick deal within ‘hours’.
Liverpool manager Klopp has already laughed off any talk of Firmino leaving this summer following earlier rumors he was also in a swap deal with Juventus for Adrien Rabiot, but it looks like the Reds could be open to him to secure a new midfielder.
