LIVERPOOL PREPPING £34M OFFER FOR ARSENAL TARGET, GUNNERS

Ismael Bennacer, an AC Milan midfielder who left Arsenal in 2017, is reportedly being courted by Liverpool with a “just under” £34 million offer, according to Italian outlet CMW. Arsenal is also rumored to want Bennacer back at The Emirates.

Bennacer, 24, has performed admirably for Milan over the previous three seasons. He began playing in the summer of 2019 as a supplemental option but has since established himself as a regular, helping Milan win the Serie A championship in 2021–2022.

The Arsenal want the Algerian international back, according to reports. He left the club in 2017. According to reports, Arsenal has reportedly made a £34 million offer to bring him back to the Premier League this summer.

According to some sources, even Erik Ten Hag wants Bennacer to join Manchester United. Donny van de Beek may be involved in a prospective move, according to reports. However, as things stand, nothing has come of that.

Arsenal is not the only team vying for Bennacer, though. In fact, according to CMW, Liverpool is planning a comparable bid for the African star. Bennacer and Pierre Kalulu might soon receive a significant financial windfall from Milan.

Another body in the middle of the field would help the Reds. Fabinho is still in holding midfield for Liverpool, and Jordan Henderson will probably serve as backup. Henderson is also capable of playing slightly more forward.

Thiago often sits a little in front of Fabinho and James Milner has been retained for another season. There is a case to be made about Liverpool needing additional depth in holding midfield. However, Bennacer is far more necessary for Arsenal.

Mo Elneny was retained by the Gunners, but he is not talented enough to start. Granit Xhaka fluctuates, and Thomas Partey has done the same. Perhaps a loan would be necessary for Albert Sambi Lokonga to demonstrate his £15 million transfer fee.

Arsenal must therefore require a new midfielder. The need for Bennacer does lessen, however, if they have added Oleksandr Zinchenko to play in midfield. Zinchenko, however, is most likely to start at left back now that Nuno Tavares has left.
