Liverpool Legend Michael Owen makes claim about Luis Diaz that Liverpool fans will love
Michael Owen has labeled Liverpool winger Luis Diaz ‘a player to watch in the 2023/24 Premier League season’.
The former striker picked Luis Diaz as ‘a man to watch in the Premier League’ earlier this season but, as Owen mentioned, ‘got injured’ and was unable to show his talents as he said on “The Final”. Word” at PL Productions (05/22/23 at 11:25 p.m.).
The 26-year-old has been able to play just 963 minutes of Premier League football for Liverpool this season, with a knee injury ending his first full season in the English top flight.
Much was expected of the player after that introduction in the January 2022 transfer window, which saw the action-packed winger win both domestic trophies.
Therefore, before a ball was kicked, Owen gave his name as “someone to watch”. Well that never materialized, although the former Liverpool man is not shy about potentially re-reporting his name for the 2023/24 season.
“You have to be careful, he’s injured,” said Owen. “I still think he’s an exceptional talent. Again, if you ask me to do it again next season, he might come to my mind.”
LUIS DIAZ WILL COOK FOR LIVERPOOL NEXT SEASON
From Sadio Mane to Diogo Jota, many Liverpool strikers who have played under Jurgen Klopp’s system have always scored many goals.
If Diaz can boast a full season, there’s no reason he can’t go into double figures in the Premier League. A player of immense talent and ball carrying ability, he has something of Luis Suarez in him that will serve him well.

Liverpool FC could inflict second damage on Chelsea with a £50 million star on their radar after
Liverpool could make Chelsea suffer twice this summer by signing Mason Mount and Romeo Lavia.
Liverpool could double their damage against Chelsea in the summer transfer window by signing one of their midfield targets and buying Mason Mount. The Reds are believed to be among the top suitors for Mount, although rivals
New Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino would prefer to keep Mount, but there has been no progress in contract negotiations between the club and player representatives since the reopening. It looks more likely the 24-year-old midfielder will leave Stamford Bridge than stay. And the Blues have started selecting targets as Pochettino reworks the squad this summer, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Conor Gallagher other midfielders likely to leave. West Ham captain Declan Rice is a long-term target, while Southampton’s Romeo Lavia is another target.
The Saints were recently relegated from the Premier League, despite retaining Belgian Lavia, who Chelsea have been looking to sign for £50m this summer. The 19-year-old defensive midfielder had just signed from Manchester City two months earlier for £14m.
City have a buyout clause worth £40m, with the idea that Southampton could sell before their return to the Championship this summer for an even higher fee. According to Goal, Liverpool are among the clubs that are particularly interested in the player and have been monitoring his progress.
The Reds are currently mainly working on deals for Alexis Mac Allister and Mount, but it is claimed that Anfield’s recruitment department believe Lavia could be the difference maker under Jurgen Klopp. Signing Liverpool would be another setback for Chelsea as Mount is also likely to leave and Rice appears to be linked with Arsenal.
Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana is another target, while Sporting’s Manuel Ugarte and Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Manu Kone are also in their sights. But Lavia – still a teenager – is the youngest of all and the Belgian international has a very high cap. The fact that Chelsea were willing to make such a big offer to him 12 months ago shows how much they appreciate him. And Liverpool could add to the pain by signing Mount and then also buying Lavia from Southampton to alter their midfield selection.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has given his approval for Mount’s potential signing. Speaking to The Anfield Wrap, he said: “Mason Mount is funny in that people always seem a bit unkind to him for whatever reason. I’ve never had it, I’m a huge fan. He is the winner of the Champions League.
“I really like him. He has the energy to push. He would create a bigger scoring threat in midfield than we could have from Jordan [Henderson] in that position right now. Mount is working hard. Every top manager who has worked at Chelsea has chosen him.
“He plays for England and I think the club also need to think about the English home situation. [James] Milner is going forward, [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joe Gomez doesn’t play every week and will try to move on point, Jordan is getting older.
“This should be in the back of their mind. If we bought Mac Allister and Mason Mount, I would be very happy. I really want us to sign a defensive midfielder as well.
