To ensure that the Gunners do not close the summer transfer window without adding a winger, it is crucial that Edu looks for alternatives. Marco Asensio, who may be available for a transfer, would be a good substitute for the north London team.

The Spanish news site AS claims that Liverpool has also made a bid for the Spaniard, so the Gunners are not the only Premier League team with an interest in the player. With the acquisitions of Fabio Vieira and Marqinhos thus far in this window, Edu has demonstrated his ability to be proactive, and he will need to emulate this behavior in his search for a winger in this window.Under Carlo Ancelotti, the Real Madrid playmaker has had a supporting role at the Bernabeu, netting 12 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions the previous season. Asensio, a Spain international, hasn’t made up his mind on his future and may quit the club in quest of consistent first-team action after only averaging 50 minutes per game in the 2021–2022 season.

If the planned transfer of Raphina falls through, Edu might decide to seek a deal in part because to the Spaniard’s versatility. Although Asensio is a natural winger, he can also play in the middle of the field or in an offensive midfield position.

Due to the lack of quality depth in the roster, Mikel Arteta struggled with the midfield last season, which occasionally hampered the club’s advancement. Asensio would also be a future possibility to have on the left side if the Spaniard decides to deploy three players in the middle of midfield.

Raphinha should continue to be Arsenal’s top priority. However, the Gunners can investigate a transfer for Asensio from Real Madrid if a deal for the Brazilian falls through before the Spaniard’s move to Liverpool is advanced.
