Liverpool
Liverpool have been linked with a Flamengo midfielder who dreams of playing for the Reds, and he could be Fabinho’s successor

Naturally, Roberto Firmino has been the center of attention for Liverpool fans over the past seven years. However, the perpetually cheerful Brazilian has also had a significant impact on the success of Jurgen Klopp’s team.
A little further back, Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Leiva were beloved cult figures at Anfield before they eventually left, with the former being remembered more fondly than the latter because of the circumstances surrounding Coutinho’s transfer to Barcelona.
Even Fábio Aurélio performed admirably for Liverpool while wearing red, and the recent success of Brazilian athletes may now continue as the team is rumored to be interested in Flamengo midfielder Joo Gomes.
The young man recently expressed to ESPN Brazil his desire to play for Liverpool one day, following in the footsteps of players like Fabinho, Coutinho, and Firmino. “I would like to play for Liverpool. I’m incredibly eager to play, “He spoke (via Sport Witness). My biggest dream in football, as well as the dream of my family, is to play in the Champions League.
Over the past two seasons, Gomes has established himself as one of Flamengo’s most promising players. With the lengthy Brazilian season lasting from April to November this year due to the world cup.
Gomes has played in 43 games so far, recording one goal and two assists. Even though those numbers don’t look alluring, scoring goals and setting them up aren’t his strong suits. Gomes, a midfield destroyer who excels at disrupting the opposition’s play, is more akin to Fabinho than Firmino in that regard.
Although Gomes is quick and can dribble, he also completes 75% of his attempts in the Brazilian Serie A, and according to O Dia (via Paisley Gates), Liverpool is one of the top clubs in Europe interested in the 21-year-old.
Does all this suggest he’s prepared to move to Europe and, more importantly, land his dream playing for liverpool?
Due to the ongoing Brazilian season and Liverpool’s steadfast stance that they won’t add any more players during the remaining transfer window, a move this summer is completely out of the question. However, a move next summer could be a very real possibility.
Gomes might be used as Fabinho’s backup in the future as Klopp attempts to revitalize his midfield as players get older and others are traded away. In his first few seasons at the club, Gomes could pick up tips from fellow countryman Fabinho before taking over as the Liverpool No. 3’s abilities start to wane.
Gomes would not be cheap, but he is very highly regarded. According to Diario do Fla, his club side values him at £48 million. Time will only tell if Gomez will get his dream muve.
