Liverpool FC confirms four stars that will be leaving as free transfer this summer

Liverpool have confirmed that James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will all leave this summer, along with Roberto Firmino.

Like Firmino, who announced his decision to quit in March, the trio’s contracts will all expire this summer after extended spells at Anfield.

Liverpool were expected to part ways with the midfielders rather than offer new deals, and this has now been confirmed.

The news comes ahead of Saturday’s final home game of the season against Aston Villa, allowing the club to prepare for a public farewell.

In previous years, the likes of Gini Wijnaldum and Divock Origi have been given a guard of honor on the pitch at Anfield, and that is likely to happen this weekend. Milner, who will join Brighton when his contract expires on July 1, has been a regular in recent months, appearing in 23 of a possible 25 games since suffering a hamstring injury in January.

Meanwhile, Keita has not been involved in a 45-minute match against Crystal Palace in February.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s last of 13 appearances this season came as a substitute against Man City on 1 April.

Clubs in Germany have been touted as interested in Keita, including former club RB Leipzig, while Newcastle, Brighton and Aston Villa have all been linked with Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Loanee Arthur will also leave Liverpool this summer to rejoin parent club Juventus and Adrian’s contract has also expired, but he can still stay on. The departure anticipates a major revamp to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield this summer, with Alexis Mac Allister, Mason Mount and Ryan Gravenberch all under fire.

Firmino, Milner, Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain all played a role in Liverpool’s successful years under Klopp, winning seven different trophies.

Reds keeping “close eye” on Championship’s Young Player of the Season

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing young League player of the season, Alex Scott, who could provide a long-term midfield option.

With Liverpool reportedly set to spend £70m on Alexis Mac Allister, they will also be looking for cheaper options to improve the squad.

Scott is the latest name linked to a move to Merseyside, with the Liverpool Echo’s Keifer MacDonald reporting the Reds are “closely monitoring his development”.

The report added: “ECHO are aware that Liverpool are aware of the progress the teenager is making.”

The Bristol City midfielder was named the League’s young player of the season last month and his manager, Nigel Pearson, valued him at “over £25m”.

At just 19, Scott is younger than the other Liverpool-linked players in his role, but has what it takes to go the distance in the game.

Jack Grealish has already praised the youngster and Bristol City boss Pearson told BBC Radio Bristol: “[I have] no doubts about that, I think he will play for England and I think he will go top of the table.” the game.”

Scott already plays for the England under-20s and will soon compete in the World Cup for that age alongside Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah.

Another red he will know from international duty is Luke Chambers. However, the pair won’t be together this month as the Liverpool player opted to stay at Kilmarnock rather than fly to Argentina for the World Cup.

While £25million would be a steep price for Scott, who has never played top-flight football, Jurgen Klopp and his team certainly wouldn’t hesitate if they thought the 19-year-old was good enough.
