As a central midfielder, Llorente can also play as a right-back or right-winger. This versatility gives Klopp a player who not only can make a difference in the middle of the park, but also gives Trent Alexander-Arnold a reason to be on his toes. The Liverpool right-back has struggled to impress this season and was sad ahead of Manchester United's first goal at Old Trafford. The Spain international is comfortable in possession and capable of making smart plays. He will fit in well at Anfield. He should pair well with Fabio Carvalho and Thiago Alcantara, giving Klopp a viable alternative to Henderson. The Liverpool skipper isn't getting any younger and the club shouldn't be able to play 36-year-old James Milner week after week.

Liverpool are interested in signing Atletico Madrid star Marcos Llorente as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his options in the middle of the park, according to Fichajes.

The Reds are ready to prepare their final move of the window for Llorente and their interest stems from the ongoing injury crisis at the club.

Midfielder Thiago suffered a hamstring problem in the opening weekend against Fulham, while Naby Keita developed another problem ahead of Monday’s game against Manchester United.

The injury crisis combined with Liverpool’s poor start to the season could mean they bring in some new faces before the window closes and Marcos Llorente is one on the club’s radar.

According to reports from AS, Atletico are reluctant to lose more players this summer and have turned down monster offers for Joao Felix, Alvaro Morata, Matheus Cunha and Llorente themselves, meaning any move for the Spaniard should go through a release clause.

Liverpool may therefore have to pay £101m to secure Llorente’s signature. In addition to their desperate need for a new midfielder, Klopp will likely be impressed by the versatility of Llorente, who has played in midfield, defense and even on the wing under Diego Simeone.

The Spanish international with 16 appearances scored twice at Anfield eliminating the Reds from the Champions League during the 2019-20 season.
