Liverpool and Jude Bellingham “agree” as the Reds’ double check market for extra signing

A string of injuries and an aging profile have left Liverpool midfield in need of reinforcements and Jürgen Klopp has admitted the club remains active.

Liverpool have reached an “oral deal” with Jude Bellingham and are hoping to sign the teenager in a future window, according to a new report.

The Reds will continue to control the market over the past week, however, as Jurgen Klopp jokingly admitted that he was “wrong” with previous claims that he did not need reinforcements. Liverpool started the new season slowly, with a draw against Crystal Palace and Fulham before losing to Manchester United.

Many of the problems, though not all, can be attributed to an already growing list of options not available to the first team. Many of the injured are concentrated in midfield, with Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all resting for Saturday’s game against Bournemouth.

But Klopp and Liverpool have been shown to be waiting for their primary target, and reports (via Football Insider) of a ‘verbal agreement’ between the club and Borussia Dortmund midfielder sensation Bellingham suggest they could do something again. something similar. The Bundesliga club are unwilling to sell the 19-year-old this summer and have imposed a £100m price tag on her husband to ward off potential suitors.

But the England international’s contract at the Westfalenstadion expires in 2025, making next summer the perfect time for Dortmund to take advantage – Bellingham’s value will plummet as he completes the final year of his contract. Liverpool want to avoid a repeat this summer, in which they apparently missed Aurélien Tchouameni at Real Madrid, and will be working hard behind the scenes.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean the Reds will close their window for the final week, with 90 minutes of reporting the club scouring the market to “double check” last-minute midfield reinforcements to alleviate Klopp’s injury problems. . The Liverpool boss admitted during the pre-Bournemouth press conference that the recruiting team remains active.

Klopp said: “I know we’ve had this discussion since it all started and it was me who said we didn’t need a midfielder and you were fine and I was wrong. Now , we choose a midfielder. This is the situation. But the specific point does not change – we will do something, but it has to be the right thing.”

Leandro Paredes has reportedly made a late move, although Paris Saint-Germain manager Cristophe Galtier has since hinted he could join Juventus. Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves or RB Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer have also been linked, although both are unlikely to be allowed to leave their respective squads this late in the window.
