Lionel Messi is given blunt Liverpool transfer message

According to Danny Mills, Lionel Messi would not be included in the strongest lineup for Liverpool or any other team in the top six of the Premier League.

Mills, a former defender for Leeds United, Manchester City, and England, would agree. But he continues to think that Messi would have trouble breaking into the starting lineups of Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, and Arsenal.

Following his spectacular transfer from Barcelona in the summer of 2021, the 35-year-old had a challenging first season at PSG, scoring just 11 goals across all competitions. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner had previously been linked to Man City, which is led by Pep Guardiola, his former Barca manager.

And when asked if a premier league powerhouse would sign Messi right now, Mills responded, “I think he is the finest footballer I have ever seen. I did not witness Cruyff or Maradona in person. The best footballer I have ever watched is Messi.

“I understand that Ronaldo may have slightly better statistics, that he excels in big games, and all the other things, but as a pure football player, Messi is the best. But would you include Messi in your team right now? Most likely not.

“Realistically, we’re talking Premier League. City and Liverpool both declined to sign him. Tottenham would not sign him, at least not in my opinion.
