Leicester City are in the driving seat to seal automatic promotion after seeing off West Bromwich Albion at the King Power Stadium this weekend

Enzo Maresca has pushed his Leicester City players to complete the “job” and achieve promotion back to the Premier League. The Italian is reluctant to get carried away, despite the fact that the Foxes have returned to the top of the Championship following a hard-fought home victory against West Bromwich Albion.

Wilfried Ndidi and Jamie Vardy scored goals either side of halftime to help City return to winning ways at the King Power Stadium. With 14 minutes remaining, Jed Wallace cut the deficit in half, but Maresca’s team held on to lead third-placed Leeds United by four points with three games remaining.

City manager Maresca stated: “I mentioned after the Millwall and Plymouth games that at this point in the season, every time you win a game, you feel yourself close, so you celebrate. We accomplished it today; we did it against Birmingham and Norwich.

“We feel ourselves getting near, but it isn’t finished. We need to finish our jobs and try to advance. This club was relegated less than ten months ago. You will need to make numerous changes. We are where we should be, and maybe we can stay there.”

The Foxes have complete control of their promotion campaign. Maresca’s team might go up on Tuesday if they defeat fourth-placed Southampton. After meeting the Saints, City will travel to Preston North End on Monday, April 29, before finishing their season at home against Blackburn Rovers.
