Laliga giant Barcelona and  Liverpool have discussed a Roberto Firmino transfer deal

Liverpool are reportedly considering moving Brazil international Roberto Firmino, whose contract expires in June, to another team in January in a swap deal

It’s easy to call someone a legend, as evidenced by Saturday’s Legends game between Liverpool and Manchester United.

On Merseyside, however, Roberto Firmino ticks all the boxes. The 30-year-old Brazil international was instrumental in Liverpool’s success under Jurgen Klopp, helping them win seven trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League titles.

Since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2015, Firmino has attracted a huge following and it looks like Barcelona are one of them. The striker and Memphis Depay, a former Manchester United star, are reportedly the subject of talks between the two sides. A January move would benefit both clubs, according to Spanish media source SPORT. Barcelona are said to be delighted with the departure of Depay, who only joined Camp Nou from Lyon in the summer of 2021. Both players’ contracts expire in June 2023.

However, Liverpool would have made a mistake with this transfer. Many analysts and fans consider Roberto Firmino to be the core that keeps Liverpool’s attack together, complementing Mohamed Salah and former Sadio Mane, despite not being the most prolific striker. Although the popularity of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz in recent years has reduced Firmino’s importance, the player is still very good. With three goals and three assists in five Premier League games this season, his performances seem to bear it out.

Bobby is a well-rounded soccer player, as Klopp said in November 2020. With different players for each instrument, a soccer team is like an orchestra. They all have different volume levels, but they all contribute to the beat in different ways. “Bobby plays about 12 different instruments in our orchestra. He’s a crucial character. Although I want him on the pitch and if you look at the numbers I really appreciate having him on the pitch, but we can play well. without him.”

Firmino’s contract is set to expire which will worry Liverpool but replacing him is no solution. Klopp’s attack isn’t as conclusive as it once was, as illustrated by his decision to replace fan favorite Mane with Darwin Nunez.

It’s unwise to make too many changes quickly on Liverpool’s frontline, although Nunez might still be able to make a splash for his goals. The Reds want Firmino’s reliability after their shaky start to the season, which saw them pick up just nine points from six Premier League games.

Depay’s suitability as a signing is also questioned. The Dutchman, who turns 29 in January, has struggled to perform while playing for United. He’s only scored twice in the Premier League and it’s hard to ignore the fact that he was once a Red Devil.

Firmino must be part of the Liverpool squad until the end of the season. It would be a big risk to trade him for Depay at this point because he is a player they need. It might not be long before the Brazilian great leaves Anfield, but not yet.

Leeds are racing to sign an ‘outstanding’ star on a free transfer but opt for Liverpool

Fabrizio Romano reported on Twitter on Sunday afternoon that Brighton are close to finalizing a deal to sign James Milner from Liverpool on a free transfer.

Milner, 37, was due to leave Liverpool last week after eight years in which he made no fewer than 331 appearances. The 61-times England star moved in 14 games off Ryan Giggs’ League record of 632 on Saturday.

It appears Milner has a very good chance of surpassing that record, with a move to Brighton on the horizon. The Seagulls have swiftly moved into the summer semester and have already landed Joao Pedro from Watford. Now they are keen to strike a deal to sign Milner on a free transfer – ahead of Leeds. The email said Leeds could not be ruled out of signing Milner. But Romano says all is well between Brighton and Milner.

Brighton are now close to finalizing James Milner’s free transfer deal – the club believe this will soon be finalized and sealed, despite interest from other clubs, including Leeds.

A blow for Leeds. The bad news keeps coming and demotion now looks more like an inevitability than a concern. That goes hand-in-hand with goals, of course — and the “outstanding” star won’t want to drop out of a split.

Especially with the possibility of breaking the all-time Premier League attendance record. He sits 34 behind former Aston Villa, Manchester City and Everton player Gareth Barry who tops the list with 652 PL appearances.

The belief is that Milner would love to return to his old club, where it all began. But while Brighton are in Europe and Leeds are likely in the league, he would prefer to move to the south coast
