Kentucky transfer G/F commits to Georgetown

Kentucky guard/forward transfer Jordan Burks committed to Georgetown Wednesday as he will not follow head coach John Calipari to Arkansas.

Burks, who was Overtime Elite’s leading scorer during the 2022-23 season, was originally committed to Ole Miss but de-committed following the firing of head coach Kermit Davis. The three-star recruit eventually signed with Kentucky in June of 2023.\

With Aaron Bradshaw and Ugonna Onyenso suffering foot fractures over the offseason, the 6-foot-8 Burks was moved to center for UK’s four-game Globl Jam slate in Toronto and to open the regular season.

He was shifted back to his original position of small forward upon Bradshaw and Onyenso’s return in December, but witnessed a decline in playing time.

He started all eight of UK’s games off the bench, but he only appeared in 12 of the last 25 games for the Cats, and he missed the SEC and NCAA Tournaments.

He averaged 1.9 points and 1.7 rebounds per game in his final season as a Wildcat, shooting 40.0 percent from three-point range and 60.0 percent from the field in 7.1 minutes per game off the bench.

In what turned out to be the best game of his brief tenure at Kentucky, he defeated Vanderbilt 109-77 with a season-high 13 points, a flawless 6-for-6 shooting effort that included a three, and five rebounds.

He will play for head coach Ed Cooley at Georgetown for the final three years of his eligibility.
Burks joins Bradshaw, who committed to Ohio State, Joey Hart, who committed to Ball State, Zvonimir Ivisic, and Adou Thiero, who are all following Calipari to Arkansas, as the sixth 2023–24 Wildcat to find a new home through the transfer site this offseason. D.J. Wagner, who has been to USC and is scheduled to visit Arkansas this weekend, and Onyenso are still undecided.
Under new head coach Mark Pope, Kentucky won’t field any scholarship players from its 2023–24 roster in its inaugural campaign.
