Jurgen Klopp selected Thiago and Darwin Nunez for Liverpool’s lineup against Nottingham Forest, according to the expected lineup.
On Saturday afternoon, Liverpool will face Nottingham Forest at Anfield in their return to Premier League action.
Liverpool will play against Nottingham Forest at Anfield tomorrow in their return to Premier League action.
The Reds enter the match after defeating Leeds United 6-1 the previous night. At Elland Road, Jurgen Klopp’s team ruthlessly destroyed Javi Gracia’s helpless team, who had not been victorious since defeating Manchester United by a score of seven goals without reply at the beginning of March.
Aston Villa, who are now in sixth place, are now only three points behind Liverpool thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota, and Liverpool are currently nine points behind fourth-place Newcastle United.
Roberto Firmino is expected to miss Liverpool’s next three games owing to a muscular issue, according to Klopp, who spoke at his pre-game news conference on Friday afternoon. Apart from the Brazilian, the Reds manager has no other fresh injury worries.
Alisson Becker is expected to start in goal for Liverpool once more, with the other four defenders being Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, and Andy Robertson.
However, things start to become interesting going forward because, in addition to choices for the midfield, Klopp also has options for the attack, particularly after both Thiago Alcantara and Luis Diaz came off the bench against Leeds.
However, it is difficult to imagine that Klopp won’t start both Curtis Jones and Jordan Henderson, who have each had three straight starts during an injury-plagued season of their own. Thiago might also replace Fabinho if the Reds want to change things up in the middle of the park.
When Jota scored his first goal against Leeds earlier this week, he broke a 372-day goalless streak for Liverpool, and it is difficult to conceive that he will sit on the bench for the match. The same is true of Salah, the only forward that Klopp has consistently chosen this year.
That only leaves one spot available. In a statement on Friday, Klopp gave a hint as to why Darwin Nunez hasn’t started for Liverpool in recent weeks. On Monday, the Uruguayan striker came off the bench to score in the Reds’ 6-1 triumph against Leeds United, although the trip to Elland Road marked the striker’s third appearance as a substitute in the team’s previous four games.
“This is a long-term project,” he declared. I can appreciate how eagerly he wants to play right away. It’s all good now. However, we need to figure out how to make it work once more in our favor.
The players whose particular strengths we can employ most effectively must then be included. Although I am very comfortable with the circumstances, I am aware that Darwin is not always content. It’s not, though, that he grinned in my face when he realized he wouldn’t start. Oh, I’m grateful, boss.
“It’s not like that, and everything is good. That is the course of action we must take. I have to make choices when we have five or six players available up front. That’s great. That’s good and ought to be the case. Then, we’ll decide.
The door is wide open, boys. You must attend more sessions as we hold more of them.
“He came on (against Leeds) and was outstanding. He was outstanding. Not just the objective, but also the one before that. He was just outstanding. It was done in the ideal manner.
“Everyone who entered the room was burning. What we require is that. In the next two weeks, we have five games, and Darwin will undoubtedly start.
