Jurgen Klopp explains “absolutely horrible” Luis Diaz re-injury situation in Dubai

It was an “absolutely horrific” situation for Luis Diaz and Liverpool as th mm ke winger suffered a recurrence of his knee ligament injury in Dubai.
Diaz was closing in on his comeback when the Reds headed to Dubai for a mid-season training camp in December, only for a strange problem in training to sideline him again.
The No23 had avoided surgery for his initial injury sustained in October but then went under the knife to repair the damage which effectively sidelined him for six months.
Jurgen Klopp, now part of the squad and starting two of the last three games, has found his “very special player”, as he enjoyed in an interview with the club’s official website.
“He came back during a training camp during the World Cup in Dubai, so we all thought: ‘finally back’,” said Klopp. “He trained exceptionally, absolutely exceptionally, and he just slipped on the grass a bit, felt something, carried on, everything is fine.”
“After practice: ‘Yeah, I feel a bit. Let’s see’. Another scan, another three months or whatever.
“Horrible, absolutely terrible. “He’s a natural player. I love him, I absolutely love him. It’s amazing.
“He’s so smart as a footballer, moves in the right areas, defends his position of course, is dangerous in front of goal, quick and cheeky.”
“A very, very special player, I must say. We missed him a lot. »
The situation surrounding Diaz’s new injury shows how players often work with little opportunity when it comes to their fitness.
A little slip can do a lot of damage, especially for those on their way home, which goes some way to explaining why players sometimes seem to be out longer than perhaps they should.
With Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo both signed since Diaz’s explosive arrival last January, there were questions as to where the Colombian would fit in.
But he immediately reclaimed a key position on his return and Klopp is likely to build on his direct approach to big-time play in the future.
“There are some explanations for our situation,” added the manager, also listing the injuries suffered by Diogo Jota and the difficult adaptation of Roberto Firmino and Nunez. “But you have to take life as it is and make the best of it, and that’s what you do in football.”

How Liverpool can line up after FIVE players departs with Alexis Mac Allister and Mason Mount
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is set to reshape his midfield this summer, with Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and Chelsea’s Mason Mount on his transfer list.
The Reds have failed to lift a major trophy and are in contention for a Champions League spot. They are fifth in the Premier League table, four points behind Eddie Howe’s Newcastle in third place and Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United in fourth place.
Liverpool’s form has led Jurgen Klopp to look for new players in the transfer market, especially midfielders. As revealed by Mirror Football, Liverpool are ready to offer £70m for Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister, 24, following his World Cup title with Argentina. Klopp is also looking to lure Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount to Merseyside, with an expected £50million offer. That could be just enough to bring the England international, also 24, to Merseyside where his existing contract expires in June 2024.
The signing of Mac Allister and Mount would make a huge difference to the Liverpool midfield, with five players expected to leave Anfield in the summer. Arthur Melo will be one of those stars after failing to make a single Premier League appearance so far this season.
The 26-year-old Arthur was loaned out to Juventus for a season in September but played just 13 minutes for the Reds. Naby Keita has also struggled for minutes this season, starting just three Premier League games, and will be suspended this summer.
Keita, 28, is out of contract in June… and so is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The 29-year-old has struggled to secure a place in Klopp’s regular squad after suffering a serious knee injury five years ago and is expected to feature in the first team with more regularity.
Roberto Firmino has already confirmed he will leave Liverpool in the summer, with Barcelona and Saudi Arabian clubs believed to be interested in the 31-year-old. Finally, James Milner’s time at Anfield may be over, with Brighton pursuing the 37-year-old. Alisson will remain Liverpool’s No.1 keeper beyond the summer while the back four of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson remain Klopp’s strongest defence. This defense turns into a back three when Liverpool are on the ball, with Alexander-Arnold pushing through midfield to provide more creativity in attack.
Alexander-Arnold’s new role has given extra prominence to Fabinho, who has struggled at times this season. The Brazilian enjoys playing alongside Alexander-Arnold in possession and, at 29, still has plenty to offer as Liverpool’s primary defensive midfielder.
Mac Allister could play in the heart of midfield, while Mount would occupy a slightly more forward position. Curtis Jones, Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson and Harvey Elliott could move into midfield if needed. Those four are not expected to leave the club this summer.
Klopp already has many attacking options. A front three from Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz is Liverpool’s strongest, although Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo may have something to say on that score. The latter can also play in attacking midfield.
