Joe Gomez, a Liverpool, defender talks about chats with Gareth Southgate and his England “hurt”

Since suffering an eight-month absence due to a patella tendon injury while training with the Three Lions in November 2020, Gomez has not been named in an England team.
He was forced to miss the Euro 2020 finals last summer, and his absence from the finals in Russia was further impacted by an ankle injury he sustained when playing for England a few months before the 2018 World Cup.
Following his return to fitness, the 25-year-playing old’s time at Liverpool was limited last season; Southgate had previously stated that he would only consider a recall when the player had “enough of minutes on the pitch.”
