Harvey Elliott will don the No. 19 shirt for the upcoming campaign.

The England U21 international, who joined the Reds in the summer of 2019, decided to give up his former number, 67, for a new one.

In the second part of 2020–21, Ozan Kabak, who was on loan from Schalke 04, wore the squad number that Elliott presently wears.

Before he moved up to No. 10, Sadio Mane In the Premier League era, the shirts have also been worn by Stewart Downing, Ryan Babel, and Fernando Morientes.

Elliott provided an explanation for the change to Liverpoolfc.com, saying: “Obviously the number became available; some great players, like Sadio and the list goes on, have worn it in the past.

“In my opinion, it was a chance to go up the rankings in terms of the numbers, and for me, it’s a great number.

“When I was younger, I recall owning a Sadio shirt with the number 19. So it’s a great pleasure to be able to wear it now that he’s gone.

“Even though a number is just a number at the end of the day, having a lower number is just good. Going into a new season, in my opinion, is a tremendous chance.

“So perhaps I can demonstrate to myself and to everyone that I am capable of achieving such high statistics and doing well under the pressure that goes along with them.

“I’m just so excited to put this shirt on and get playing
