Gomez is focused on returning to Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup this year.

Joe Gomez, who recently signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool, is eager to take on the challenge of breaking into Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup.
The 25-year-old only made four league starts for the Reds last season because he was passed over for Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, and Ibrahima Konate
But he nonetheless believes he can contribute more at Anfield, which is why he signed a new contract that runs through 2027.
Joe Gomez has extended his contract with Liverpool to keep him there through 2027.
He is still seeking to reestablish himself in Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup at Liverpool.
It’s clear from how old I am now and from the opportunities I’ve had in the past that I still had a choice to make.
You could consider it to be a crossroads, I suppose. Speaking to the club, though, I realized it was a critical choice for me to make. Fundamentally, it would be difficult for me to pass up this opportunity, this platform, and the chance to be a part of this club. Essentially, it involved my acceptance of the fact that I must accept the task.
Due to his little playing time the previous season, Gomez was rumored to be leaving early this summer, and LaLiga powerhouse Real Madrid was apparently interested in the English center-back.
Gomez has claimed that he did not pay much attention to rumours regarding his future, instead focusing on making his own decision without outside influences.
‘I can’t dispute I heard about these rumours. But until things are concrete with my representatives, I take it all with a pinch of salt.
‘Any interest is flattering, but I don’t really see it like as that much of a distraction because until I make my decision, the external noise is just that – external.
‘Once I got my head around what I wanted to do, my signing is me understanding the challenge and wanting to rise to it,’ he added.
Alongside van Dijk, Gomez was a constant in Liverpool’s back line during the team’s title-winning season in 2019–20.
Throughout the 2019–20 season, Gomez and Virgil van Dijk forged an outstanding partnership.
He is currently making a concerted effort to put his fitness difficulties behind him in order to receive more playing time.
Since then, injuries have slowed down his development, but the defender is currently putting more effort than ever into getting fit again.
The key for me was staying on top of things because the last injury took me off guard, he continued.
“I always think that putting in a lot of effort is one of my core values, and I hope that’s how I was perceived before the injury.” To keep on top of my physique, I’ve had to raise it up a notch and do things that people don’t see, like at odd hours of the night or after a trip for a game.
“I worked out in the gym and with the boys on the practice field the entire previous season.” It has outperformed my previous shape, but in a different way. I have undoubtedly consistently put forth more effort than ever.
“I have a strong desire to succeed, and as I gain knowledge and experience, I establish better routines that help me effectively manage the challenging task.” I hope that my determination to succeed mentally and the effort I put forth will put me in good shape.
