Fulham maintains interest in £13m star.

Fulham could improve their attacking options this summer by signing a Bundesliga player at a lower price.

Fulham could renew their interest in winger Silas Katompa Mvumpa this summer after knocking on the door of VfB Stuttgart during the winter transfer window.

Transfer discussion at Craven Cottage remains focused on the contracts of important players, with Tosin Adarabioyo, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Kenny Tete, and Willian all poised to leave as free agents – though Marco Silva has expressed his and the club’s wish to extend those contracts.

The departure of De Cordova-Reid and Willian would leave Fulham with little options on the wings. Harry Wilson is often preferred as a bench option, while Adama Traore is sidelined by injury and Alex Iwobi is used in a variety of roles.

Fulham’s acquisition of Mvumpa could thus prove to be a wise choice, as the club has clearly been interested in the player for some time. According to Sky Deutschland, Fulham’really wanted’ the 25-year-old in January and were willing to pay €20 million (£17 million) for his talents, but the bid arrived ‘too late’ for the German club.

According to the source, Fulham’s interest in the DR Congo international’still continues’, and a club representative was even present to witness the player against Eintracht Frankfurt earlier this month, despite the fact that Mvumpa only played one minute from the bench.

The winger has five goals and five assists in 26 appearances across all competitions this season, and he was out for a month due to Africa Cup of Nations obligations.

The Bundesliga club is now alleged to be asking for between £9 and £13 million for the player, which is far less than Fulham was apparently willing to pay earlier this year. Mvumpa has apparently been ‘fully honest’ about his future plans.
