Frenkie de Jong’s transfer cost is in dispute between Man United and Barcelona, according to reports.

De Jong has given United enough hope that he would be willing to transfer to Old Trafford for Erik ten Hag that he has sparked negotiations between the two clubs about a deal for him.

Barcelona reportedly wanted to receive €100 million, but United values the Netherlands midfielder at closer to €60 million with add-ons.
According to sources who spoke to ESPN, there is a perception inside the organization that Barca is actively attempting to offload De Jong in order to collect money to support their summer transfer ambitions, and that this should be reflected in the price.
A central midfielder is being prioritized by Ten Hag and football director John Murtough over the acquisition of attackers and defenders, but there are other names on the list besides De Jong.
According to sources who spoke to ESPN, negotiations with Barca have advanced as a result of De Jong’s hint that he could be open to moving to United.
The 25-year-initial old’s reluctance to join a team outside of the Champions League after leaving Barcelona has changed.
When Barcelona offered De Jong to Europe’s top teams, Paris Saint-Germain also expressed interest. However, as things are, United is your best bet.
After Liverpool purchased Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, United are still looking to strengthen their front line.
According to sources who spoke to ESPN, United ultimately decided they did not want to engage in a conflict with Liverpool and will instead focus on other targets.
Although the goal is still to sign a center midfielder, there is interest in RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku and Ajax winger Antony, who Ten Hag knows well from their time spent together in Holland.
Ten Hag is lacking in midfielders with the departures of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba, and the budget for bolstering the offense is likely to depend on whether a team would be interested in Anthony Martial.
