Ex-KRO player who threatened Bellingham’s record dream come…

The 16-year-old player was one of the two bright spots in the Blues under-16 squad; the other was Romelle Donovan, who appeared in 10 games for the first team in 2023–2024.

Sanusi, a quick forward, began to appear in first team lineups toward the close of the 2022–2023 season. Had he played off the bench, he would have become the club’s youngest player ever, surpassing Jude Bellingham’s record.

Sanusi declined to sign his scholarship as John Eustace refused to give him first team playing time. Sanusi, on the other hand, relocated to Newcastle United, a high-spending club, where he has spent much of the season alternating between their under-18 and under-21 squads.

Sanusi is rumored to have pleased Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle, this season, earning him calls ups to the first squad. Sanusi, however, had no chance of making his first team debut before the season finished due to a knee injury he suffered last month.

“It’s overwhelming and a dream come true to sign my first professional contract as I’ve been working for it my entire life,” Sanusi said in response to his first professional contract, as reported by newcastleunited.com. I can’t wait to keep going and prove myself to everyone who awarded me the deal.

“I didn’t anticipate it and I remained modest. I worked really hard up until I received the contract, which I now have, but I won’t be stopping. I believe that trying to break into the first team through the academy is a really good route. I support myself to perform as well as I can and make an effort to do so, taking after those who have played well this season.

“I’d say my best memories this season would be scoring my first goal for the under-21s as well as playing in the UEFA Youth League, winning away at Paris Saint-Germain.”
