Dominik Szoboszlai shares what Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said to him on his first day as Reds player.

Dominik Szoboszlai has described what Jurgen Klopp told him upon his arrival at Liverpool and why he is keen to prove everyone wrong.
Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed the motivation behind his successful start to his Liverpool career, revealing what Jurgen Klopp told him on his first day at Anfield.
Szoboszlai has been one of the Reds’ standouts since joining from RB Leipzig for £60 million in the summer, appearing in all but one of their 16 games in all competitions.
The 23-year-old midfielder is set to be part of the team that departs on Wednesday afternoon for the following day’s Europa League group game in Toulouse.
And he has detailed the initial message taken on board from Klopp and why he wants to be involved in every game for Liverpool.
“He’s quite a unique guy,” Szoboszlai remarked of the Reds’ owner. “We had spoken previously after some games when Salzburg and Leipzig played against Liverpool, but not in such close proximity.” And now it was strange since it felt like we already knew each other. So it was a good conversation.
“On my first day, he called me into his office and said, ‘Look, we know what kind of player you are, and we know what you can do.'” You don’t have to demonstrate it right away because we know you merely need to grow in the team. So be free, go about your business, and it will come to you. But you have to work hard if you want to play’.
“I paid attention to him. From the outside, it seemed like, okay, a Hungarian man coming to the Premier League, he won’t play, it’s too big a step. But these things make me work even harder. I was thinking to myself, “No, I’m going to show it.”
“And I wanted to play in all the games, to play 90 minutes, to score goals, assist on goals, win trophies, and do everything for the club.” I’ve been attempting to achieve it since my first day here.”
Szoboszlai had been Liverpool’s sole outfield player to play every minute of the Premier League season until his substitution midway through the second half of Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Luton Town.
