Cowboys have won 11 straight at home. They’ll again host a New York team coming off a QB injury

Texas’s Arlington (AP) A week after the visiting team lost its starting quarterback to a long-term injury, the Dallas Cowboys are set to go 2 for 2 this season when they welcome the New York team.
With the exception of a 1987 strike-replacement game, Tommy DeVito is expected to be the first rookie free agent to start as quarterback for the Giants (2-7) in the common draft era. He is starting in place of the injured Daniel Jones, who wasn’t much of an asset in the first game, which Dallas won 40-0.
The Cowboys (5-3) are aiming for their 12th straight home win streak at AT&T Stadium on Sunday in their Week 10 rematch. That would be their best winning streak at home since an 18-game run at the now-demolished Texas Stadium from 1979 to 1981.
In the 30-6 loss to Las Vegas last week, Jones tore his ACL in his right knee.
Four snaps into his New York Jets debut, Aaron Rodgers tore his left Achilles tendon. The Cowboys lost 30-10 to the Giants in Week 2 and had to turn to prior starter Zach Wilson. The injury occurred the day before the Cowboys had shut out the Giants.
Due to the injury of backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor (ribs), DeVito is starting for the first time in his career. Jones’ knee gave out against the Raiders after he had previously missed time due to a neck issue.
After transferring from Syracuse to Illinois, DeVito was left undrafted. “I think it’s a shock to everybody,” he stated. It’s difficult to have not only one quarterback injured, but two quarterbacks go down.
Dallas easily defeated the Giants by scoring early touchdowns on special teams and defense. The Cowboys will attempt to intimidate a rookie in the same manner as they did Jones, who was hit 12 times and sacked seven times
Coach Mike McCarthy of Dallas stated, “I think the most important thing is just really keeping your eye on the ball.” “The tiny things and the intricacies are what we focus on. In actuality, though, we’re playing at home, which is crucial for us, so we just need to take care of business.
After four seasons together, Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott and star receiver CeeDee Lamb are having their greatest season yet.
Lamb has set a new career high in receiving yards each of the last two weeks, and Prescott is coming off two straight 300-yard games, his first two of the year. The 2020 first-round selection gained 191 yards in the NFC East-leading and division-rival Philadelphia team’s 28-23 defeat last week.
Remain dependable. Let’s keep building on what we’ve already established—I can’t stress this enough,” Lamb declared. “These past few weeks, we laid a great foundation. Let’s keep moving forward, staying true to ourselves, and talking through the reps we miss at practice and on Sundays. Let it rip.”
An important factor in the Giants’ offensive line’s disarray this season has been injuries. Since right tackle Evan Neal is sidelined due to another ankle injury, New York will open with a nine-man lineup for the first time in ten games. After missing the previous two games due to an injury to his other ankle, he made a comeback last week.
The starting lineup for this week is likely to include Tyre Phillips at right tackle, Andrew Thomas at left tackle, Justin Pugh at left guard, John Michael Schmitz at center, and Ben Bredeson at right guard. They’ll want to restrict a defense that, in the first game against the Giants, recorded seven sacks and twelve quarterback hits.
The Cowboys virtually skipped practice on Wednesday, partly due to their attempt to make it a race in the NFC East, which ended in a physically and psychologically taxing loss to the Eagles.
Additionally, Dallas has another Thursday game the week after Thanksgiving, which falls within the annual short week.
McCarthy is getting ready for the Cowboys’ fourth Thanksgiving game and discovering how much he enjoys the schedule.
McCarthy stated, “I think the simplest explanation is just trust in the research, the numbers, and the listening to last year, the training staff, and the strength staff.” We’re going to make sure we’re prepared to win the game on Sunday by making sure we’re ready to go. But in a season with 17 games, you must undoubtedly plan for the long term.
The easiest approach for the Giants to support DeVito, who is beginning at quarterback, would be to run the ball.
Saquon Barkley gained 51 yards on 12 carries during the season’s opening 40-0 defeat. In that one, the score spiraled out of control early, forcing New York to give up on the running game.
The Giants can run the ball, if this season has shown them anything. Barkley outran the Jets defense, one of the finest in the league, on 36 carries for 128 yards, a career-high.
With his right ankle sprain, Barkley missed three games, yet he still managed to amass 502 yards and average 4.0 yards per carry. You can have another season with 1,000 yards.
