Charlton Athletic offer new contract to defender ahead of next….

A new “long-term” deal has reportedly been offered to the defender, according to Charlton Athletic technical director Andy Scott.

Small, 19, made a good impression when he joined the League One team this past winter.
According to a London News Online story, Scott stated: “We’ve made him a new offer, a long-term deal that he and his agents are considering. I’ve had a couple of conversations with his agents.” We will trigger the option and carry on with those conversations if that doesn’t happen by the deadline.

Keeping hold of Small would be a big boost for Charlton Athletic as they head into next season.

Nathan Jones will be looking to have his Addicks side competing at the top end of the table.

He was Small’s Southampton coworker, and in early February he made the decision to entice him to The Valley in order to support his defensive departure.

The club has the option to retain the adolescent for an additional year, although the teenager merely signed a contract that would last until the summer.

Since joining Charlton Athletic, Small has made 14 league appearances, helping the team escape the threat of relegation from the third division.

He was on the books at West Brom and Everton before moving down south when Southampton came calling.

The man, who was born in Solihull, later made one appearance for St Mary’s first team before being sent on loan to Port Vale and St Mirren to get further experience.

Before returning to his parent club in January, he played six games in the Scottish Premiership during the first half of this season with the latter.

After that, Southampton completely severed their relationship with him with his agreement, and he moved to Charlton Athletic.

After losing to Wycombe Wanderers over the weekend, they are making plans for the upcoming term in an effort to keep Small on board.
