According to insiders, Celtic are “confident” that they will reach Queens Park Rangers’ asking price for defender Jake Clarke-Salter this summer.

According to The Telegraph’s John Percy (7 May), QPR will seek roughly £5-7 million for the 26-year-old over the off-season.

Brendan Rodgers’ team is expected to receive a significant transfer budget boost as they close in on the Scottish Premiership title following their victory against Rangers on Saturday (11 May).

According to Football Insider, Celtic will earn a guaranteed £35 million from participating in the Champions League league phase if they win one more top-flight point and retain the title.

As a result, the Glasgow giants are reported to be confident in meeting QPR’s demands for Clarke-Salter as they seek to reinforce their centre-back position.

The 26-year-old has had a successful season in the Championship and has tremendous pedigree, having progressed through the ranks at Chelsea in his early career.

He is also coveted in England, with Football Insider reporting on April 6 that Crystal Palace, Burnley, and Bournemouth are among the clubs interested in signing him this summer.

Clarke-Salter made 33 appearances in all competitions this season, starting 29 of them.

He joined QPR from Chelsea in 2022 and has a contract until June 2026.

Celtic will meet Kilmarnock on Wednesday (15 May) with the chance to win the Scottish Premiership with a draw.
