Bradford City’s playoff dreams: Consistency, teamwork, seizing every chance

If City defeat Newport on Saturday, they would equal Phil Parkinson’s team’s 69-point total from the previous promotion season in 2013.

However, they will still need positive results elsewhere to move into the final play-off spot.

A win for either Crawley at home against Grimsby or Barrow, who host promoted Mansfield, would put them out of reach regardless of the Valley Parade conclusion.

To advance, the Bantams must win their fifth game in a row and hope that Crawley loses or draws while Barrow loses.

City might theoretically overcome Barrow if the Bluebirds draw, but only if they thrash Newport by seven goals!

City’s victory last night propelled them to eighth place, their highest position this season.

Whatever happens at the weekend, they will at least finish in the top half. A month ago, that seemed well out of reach for them.

According to this morning’s William Hill odds, City are 5/1 outsiders to make the play-offs. Barrow is 8/11, and Crawley is even.
