Injured Liverpool striker Diogo Jota could return to training before the end of August.

Before the end of the week, a "brilliant" Liverpool player is reportedly expected to recover from an injury and begin training once more.

That’s according to Goal, who claim the Liverpool player’s return from injury will ‘maybe’ happen within the next week.

Jota has not played for Liverpool since losing the Champions League final in May almost three months ago. In his absence, the Reds were clearly lacking the scoring he has to offer.

Along with Jota, Curtis Jones could also return to the squad before the end of the month.

Finally good news for Liverpool in terms of injuries. Even though Jota is no longer a guaranteed starter for Jurgen Klopp, he really could have made a difference in these first few weeks.

The Reds have struggled to get the ball into the net so far this season. They could have used Jota’s handy talent to find a target.

Before the end of the week, a "brilliant" Liverpool player is reportedly expected to recover from an injury and begin training once more.

He may have fallen out of shape in the closing months of last season, but the 25-year-old is still one of the best target shooters in the league. Well-known scorer Darren Bent even called it “brilliant” via TalkSPORT.

While others may seize and miss good opportunities, Jota is a killer when he’s at the door.

He also plays regularly for Liverpool against the Premier League’s ‘Big 6’. Take Manchester United for example, the Portuguese star has scored for Liverpool in each of their last two league appearances at Old Trafford.

How could they handle that last night.

Of course, there’s still no guarantee he’ll start when he returns. Darwin Nunez will also be available again around a similar date and would likely be seen as Klopp’s first choice.

But a look at the bench last night tells you they are in reserve, where Liverpool are also struggling. Having a player like Jota coming off the bench can make all the difference in the world. Hurry up Diogo, we missed you.
