What is the most recent De Jong-related news?

De Jong’s future was recently discussed by Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who did not completely rule out the idea of the Dutchman possibly leaving the team despite the fact that it is obvious that he wants to stay in Spain.

When asked to absolutely affirm that De Jong will not join United this summer in an exclusive interview with CBS Sports, Laporta responded, “In football, you never know. I can’t say with certainty. Everything is dependent on the various parties.

“But in theory, I can say there’s a good chance he remains, and I can say that as president, I’ll do all in my power to keep him in Barcelona.”

De Jong was a key member of Barcelona’s team last season, earning 45 appearances across all competitions. Though the 25-year-old is said to be the club’s biggest earner, his future has become uncertain due to the La Liga team’s financial difficulties.

In relation to De Jong and United, what has Romano said?

According to Romano, United basically has a deal in place to spend €85 million (£71 million) on signing De Jong, but the player has not yet given the green light.

The transfer specialist told GMS that things were still the same. Because Manchester United and Barcelona have a ready-made agreement, nothing has changed. Everything between the two clubs is almost ready because of the agreement, which is for €75 million plus €10 in add-ons, but not yet on the player side.

The same source claims that De Jong must play Champions League football, giving Chelsea the upper hand if they truly intend to sign the former Ajax player this summer.

Erik ten Hag would suffer a severe setback if United were to pass on De Jong, but there is little else they can do to pursue his former player.
